Perhaps Nancy will choose to date herself for a while? ![]() So whatever she decides to do, she’ll do it for the right reasons. I personally had some crunchy feelings about how the whole Jonathan thing started sort of behind Steve’s back. Whatever happens, I would hope that she does it with integrity. “It feels like she’s been in a relationship for a while so maybe she needs some self discovery time. Nancy and Steve and Jonathan and Stranger Things season 5 It’s maybe not the best time for a love triangle, what with Max in a coma and the twisted Upside Down dimension leaking into Hawkins, but love waits for no man, woman, or otherworldly demon. And plus plus, Steve has apparently being holding a candle for Nancy this whole time and shared some of his feelings with her in season 4, including thanking her for giving him “a wake up call” back in season 1 and revealing that he has a fantasy where they’re married and have a huge litter of children. Plus, Jonathan is lying to her about his college applications and continued to do so when they finally met back up in the finale, although they are still together. Nancy and Jonathan are living thousands of miles apart and both of them seem a little relieved to have some distance. However, season 4 found them at a crossroads. While that was ending, she found herself attracted to Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton), who had more of a brooding loner thing going on. When the series started she was with Steve Harrington (Joe Keery), who was a bit more of a shallow cad back then. Whether Vecna's decision to reveal his backstory to Nancy is an elaborate way to get justice for Barb or a creative narrative technique, his origin story provides a throughline throughout season 4.Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) has had a whirlwind of a romantic life since Stranger Things began in 2016. Regardless of how the Duffer Brothers chose to craft the last episode of season 4, volume 1, Vecna's role in Stranger Things' history cannot be overstated. Perhaps, her feelings for Steve remind her of the night of Barb's death, and she needs closure. Both Fred and Max are haunted by deaths that they feel responsible for, which is why it makes perfect sense that this is how Vecna chooses to torture Nancy. Vecna is able to access his victim's minds by pinpointing a moment of trauma and exploiting it for his own sick pleasure. In episode 7, "The Massacre at Hawkins Lab," the group makes it to the Upside Down version of Eddie's trailer home, where they are able to be pulled up into the real world. Toward the end of season 4, volume 1, Steve is dragged to the Upside Down, and Nancy jumps in after him. She decides to visit the old man and learns pertinent information to help save her town. However, she also knows that almost nothing is what it seems in Hawkins. She learns that Victor has been institutionalized for his wife and kids' murders since the 1950s, so it is unlikely he's responsible for the new killings.
